(Musa paradisiaca)
Treelike, yet actually a tall, herbaceous perennial, the banana has large, evergreen leaves that can grow to 7ft long and 1ft wide. The bananas develop from a striking purple "flower" on a stem that emerges from the center of a mature plant, near its leaf base.

Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charitonius)
Florida's state butterfly is unique due to its long wings and slow flight. It congregates in groups of up to 60 when returning to the same roost each night. It prefers tropical hammocks in the south, and moist woods and pine forests in the north.
This print is on archival quality paper, and double matted-- an archival white matting with a gold undermat. The Latin and common names provide identification, in keeping with tradition. An oriental chop has been created by the artist and is used for identification and to balance the work.
