Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera) Arched leaf fronds up to 18’ long grow on a tall, slender, and often leaning trunk in this well known tree of the tropics. Intricate ivory flower-like stems can be seen near the lower leaves where tiny coconuts develop into bunches of as many as 40 coconuts.
