Interrupted Fern
(Osmunda claytoniana)
Most easily identified by a few pairs of fertile pinnae found in the middle of a green sterile frond, these ferns are found in moist woods, on swamp edges, and in both wet and dry meadows. Range: N. Eastern U.S. and Canada. Grows to 72 inches tall.
This print features a top border of colorful fall foliage -- two yellow birch leaves and two red maple leaves -- flanking a purple lilypad, the color of the underside of the common scented pond lily. There alsois a rectangular-boxed Common Loon feather.
It is on white paper, and is completed with a 22" x 40" double mat... edged in a gold undermat with your choice of a white or cream mat border.
