(Mangifera indica)

A highly prized tropical fruit, the mango has been called the "Apple of the Tropics." The tree has dense foliage with slender, tapering leaves and abundant blooms -- tiny flowers on red stems. As the fruit grows heavy, it hangs from the branches, and is best picked just before beginning to soften.

Orange-barred Sulphur (Phoebis phileaphilea)

Originally from the West Indies, this butterfly likely flew over, or was carried by a storm, to the states in the early 1900's. The female has black markings along the edges of her wings.

This print is on archival quality paper, and double matted-- an archival white matting with a gold undermat. The Latin and common names provide identification, in keeping with tradition. An oriental "seal" has been created by the artist and is used for identification and to balance the work.
