(Carica papaya)
Treelike, yet actually a large herb, the papaya can grow 6-10ft its first year, and eventually can reach 20-30ft. The large, variously lobed leaves grow in a spiral 1-3ft long on almost horizontal stems. Males' flowers are on slender, long stalks, while females' flowers grow next to the trunk and produce the fruit.

Monarch (Danaus plexippus)
Most familiar, this butterfly is highly migratory. Its caterpillar feeds on milkweed and incorporates the poisonous compounds therein into its skin.
This print is on archival quality paper, and double matted-- an archival white matting with a gold undermat. The Latin and common names provide identification, in keeping with tradition. An oriental "seal" has been created by the artist and is used for identification and to balance the work.
