Handpulled, hand painted botanical prints on paper. Actual ferns, fish, flowers and leaves (many of which are found in Key West and the Florida Keys), are painted and pressed to create the original images in this series, which celebrates the flora and fauna of the natural world. A unique representation of a revered art form, these pieces are inspired by the antique, classic Botanical prints, paintings, and lithographs. Each piece is individually handpulled and hand painted. The common and Latin names provide identification in keeping with tradition. Borders of other pressings and/or hand drawn or painted insects, and assorted subjects appropriate to the image are often used to complete the piece. An oriental "seal" has been created by the artist and is used for identification and to balance the work. Printed on Arches and Rives 100% rag printmaking paper.
