Helio's Duval Street Installation Winter 2025

At the invitation of the Arts Council of the FL Keys, we were delighted to be featured in the large display window, provided to rotating local artists, on the corner of Duval and Fleming Streets in downtown Key West. This installation, which we spent months designing, featured our art and fabrics. Here are a few photos from that project up for 4 months during the 2025 season.

Elizabeth Stuart Design project for Luxe magazine

Helio's hand painted Old Florida Palms & Coconuts design on a 10-piece sectional provides a classic yet light-hearted touch to an old-style Southern tropical pool house.
Based in Charleston, SC, ESD Design firm and retail store specializes in residential and commercial design and professes to be "in constant search of beautiful." In the summer of 2019, the ESD team contacted us to help them transform Elizabeth's personal pool house with our fabrics in preparation for a photo shoot of her home for LUXE magazine. They chose our hand-painted Palm and Coconuts fabric design, in our Old Florida color palette, which paired perfectly with the West Indies style decor of the pool room. We custom printed and painted our designs on a natural-color Sunbrella fabric in specified sizes and with additional yardage to be sewn into cushions for a spacious sectional couch. Additional pillows in a variety of Helio's designs add complimentary accents.
Ocean's Edge Hotel, Key West FL

Our artwork was chosen for use in the newly developed Ocean's Edge Hotel and Marina on Stock Island. We worked closely with the designer to create custom pieces to fit their need and specifications. Our art was initially created on paper, then photographed by Key West Fine Art who manipulated the images further, enlarging them and printing each piece as a giclée on canvas.
The end result is a colorful set of 2 pieces in each of the suites.

Jupiter Island Club Spa, Hobe Sound, Florida

We worked with Interior designer Tom Scheerer and associates, whose work is characterized by clear architectural solutions with beautiful, comfortable furnishings, on the Jupiter Island Club project. Through our rep, Ammon Hickson, we provided the designers with 70 yards of our hand printed and painted fabrics.
Our Seagrape, Palm and Fern fabric was used for curtain applications in the spa at this beautiful club on Hobe Sound, FL.
The Marker Hotel, Key West
The first hotel built in historic Old Town in the past 20 years, The Marker, is named after our mile markers and is a small luxury boutique hotel located in the Seaport District next to the harbor.
When it opened, it featured the work of many local artists, including ours. Two of our beautifully framed prints, Tropical Banana and Parrot with Palm, were chosen to hang in each room. In addition, our hand-printed pillows graced the beds in all 96 rooms. We worked closely with the owners to create and fine-tune the work for a custom fit in this beautiful new hotel.
Here's the article from Forbes Magazine, Feb. 2015
(Those are our pillows on the bed in this photograph from the magazine!)

Two of our newer pieces replaced the Tropical Fruit Prints and currently hang along the concourse in the departure wing. Check out the wonderful art selection there, curated by the Arts Council of the FL Keys, if you fly out of Key West.
Look for our 2 pieces, Under the Palms & Under the Sea. Both are available for purchase here on our website.

Yacht Interior Design

If you had extra special vision, you could see that those are Helio pillows on the decks of the yacht in this photo!
Ammon Hickson represents our fabrics to the trade at their showroom in the DCOTA (Design Center for the Americas) in Dania Beach, Florida. In 2009 and 2010 we worked together with Patrick Knowles Interiors to design and create custom fabrics and pillows for a 207' yacht being built in Italy. Considered to be the ISA's (International Shipyard's Ancona's) flagship yacht, the shipyard collaborated with a Rome-based exterior stylist, and interiors specialist Patrick Knowles of Ft. Lauderdale Fl, who through Ammon Hickson chose our fabrics for use on many of the yacht's sun decks and outdoor living spaces.
Featured in Yachts International magazine in October of 2010 (see photo) the story described Knowles' interest in creating "a total space of well being and fun".
Our colorful, tropical, and whimsical designs fit the bill! This project was of prime focus in our studios from June 2009, when we received the final product specs, into Spring of 2010 when the last part of the order was shipped. We produced a total of 69 pillows for the Main Deck, Portuguese Deck, and Sundeck along with 124 yards of hand printed and painted fabrics for upholstering chairs and ottomans throughout the yacht. Many specialized designs were custom created for this project including hand painted fishes, birds, and hibiscus as seen in the photos above and below.

Philpotts and Associates, Honolulu HI
We established a working relationship with Philpotts in 2009 through our rep, Ammon Hickson. Our first order with them was a substantial one, and we worked closely with the designer to customize our fabric designs for use in upholstery and throw pillows throughout a very special home in Hawaii. The order included multiple yardage of our Monstera, Banana and Sea grape fabrics and customized versions of our Palm with Coconuts and Palm with Hibiscus, all totaling nearly 80 yards of hand printed and painted fabrics.

In addition to their award winning design, Philpotts's has a premiere design store and showroom called Place, located in Honolulu. They carry a beautiful selection of hand picked objects for the home (including our pillows) and have used our fabrics to create one of a kind pieces such as the Monstera chair shown above on display in their store.
The Interlaken Inn, Lake Placid NY

This charming hotel is one of Lake Placid's premier Victorian homes and has 9 lovely rooms, a Carriage House duplex, and an unparalleled restaurant and pub. Thanks to a serendipitous discovery of my work while owner Mary Neary was visiting Key West in 2004, when she spotted my Adirondack inspired pieces in my gallery on Fleming Street, the Inn has featured a special selection of Helio prints throughout the hotel. The pieces were designed and created specifically for hanging in the entranceway, living room, hallways, and guest rooms of the Inn.
In 2012, in honor of their 100 year anniversary, the owners celebrated with a grand Party and Helio Art show, featuring new prints, pillows and linens on display in the living room and sun room.
