Sweet Aloe Morning

In December, the garden Aloe is blooming abundantly, a sign of the season.
It's incredible how much life it draws, particularly in the mornings. A tiny Cuban Palm Warbler clings to the stems, searching each tubular blossom for bugs. A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird knowingly zips in and out like clockwork to feed on the sweet, dripping nectar. Mangrove Skipper Butterflies flutter about, with their iridescent blue markings.

Captured in watercolor with colored-pencil accents, this contemporary piece is an Ode to Winter in the tropics, reminiscent of classic botanical lithographs but with a fresh and whimsical touch.
